Coors PotteryCoors Porcelain Company evolved from the Herold Pottery and China Company - founded by John Herold in 1910 in Golden, Colorado. Herold had worked for Owens Pottery and Roseville in Ohio. In Colorado he utilized local clays to develop a line of heat-resistant dinnerware. Adolph Coors, founder of Coors Brewing Company, acquired control of Herold's company in 1912 and by 1920 changed the name to Coors Porcelain Company and began using the "Coors U.S.A." trademark. Prior to and during WWI the company also began to produce chemical porcelains for industrial applications. After World War I, Coors Porcelain made fine china and cookware in familiar styles: Rosebud, Decalomania, Colorado, Rockmount, Golden Ivory, Mello-Tone and others. During prohibition the pottery company is credited with keeping the parent company, Adolph Coors Brewing Company, viable. With the intervention of WWII Coors Porcelain stopped production of all non-essential domestic pottery mentioned above. The Rosebud line is the similar to Fiesta in style and popularity with collectors. |

From the Arzberg web site: " When asked about his work, Löffelhardt replied: '... in industrial design, large-scale production is very important. In order to be able to produce on a large-scale, a shape is first of all required which is so good that it is worth duplicating...'".
Jet Set Modern says, "If you're interested in having dinnerware of the highest physical quality, with an unimpeachable Bauhaus design pedigree, you can't do better than German porcelain, and if you move now, you can have it for much less than everyone else will be paying in a year or two. Don't say we didn't tell you!" http://www.jetsetmodern.com/issue5/porcelain.htm
